How simple is too simple? I don’t know. Bailey was knit some months ago, during the anxiety haze of a terrifying health scare* when mentally I was not up to much challenge but emotionally I could-not-stop-knitting. The pattern was inspired partly by a cardigan my mom bought in Norway in the early ’80′s – a simple fine gauge cotton open cardigan that was so lovely in it simplicity that we (she first, then I) wore it to disintegration. And partly by Bailey Quarters, a character from the late ’70′s/early 80′s sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati – which to me is the original 30 Rock, I could go on about that more but I’ll spare you… Anyway. Here is the result of all my musings on the idea of a “wardrobe knit” from earlier posts, it is my perfect basic and I am quite sure that this time I actually will knit this again, at least once. I’ve already got my eye on a some marly alpaca yarn that is in my stash…
The pattern is available in the Savory Knitting shop on Ravelry
*It was really scary. But I am very lucky and I’m fine now.

I love the yarn and the sweater, and I believe a lot of the time, less is more, so I love simple designs. I really love the pockets!
